Mississippi Magnolias

One of my favorite things are Magnolia trees, and Mississippi had beautiful old trees that were blooming in late April. I had the honor and pleasure of attending the Sunbelt Red Brangus
Breeders Organization Field Day on April 30th in Poplarville, Mississippi. Dr. Richard Gingles put together three amazing speakers; one from Purina, one from Dow AgroSciences and one from Merial. Each speaker gave a very informative presentation and took questions. We learned about nutrition and minerals and their importance, which chemicals to use to give us better
and more productive pastures, and a new injectable long-lasting wormer. We enjoyed a steak lunch that was provided by the presenters. Attendees enjoyed great southern fellowship and feeding the sweet barn cat.

After lunch we went to M & M Farms, Wade and Heather Benoit. The Benoit’s have a beautiful ranch and have worked very hard to put together an outstanding herd of Red Brangus Cattle. After leaving the Benoit’s, Dr. Gingles and Jack Barron gave me a tour of Red Brangus cattle. Dr. Gingles has also put together a good set of Red Brangus cattle. The Sunbelt Red Brangus Organization has a great group of breeders that are working hard to promote American Red Brangus cattle and as President, I want to say thank you for your dedication and support to our breed and association. I want to thank Wade and Heather Benoit for having us at their ranch, and the Sunbelt Organization for inviting me to attend their Field Day. I also want to thank Doc and Grace Gingles for their true Southern Hospitality. I had the pleasure of staying in their home where I was treated like a queen. The Gingles have a very beautiful home and ranch and Grace is an
outstanding cook. I am so proud to be a member of this association, we have outstanding cattle and a set of members that are beyond amazing.
