Presidents Message

Focusing on the future is important for all organizations and corporations to achieve long term success in the market place. The ARBA has been around for 55 years and you do not stay in business for more than a half a century without successful planning.

Since being elected President by the ARBA board in June, I asked each board member to generate a list of five goals or objectives for the association to achieve in the upcoming years. I believe it is important that we establish benchmarks and put plans in place to advance the breed and Association. In addition, the board members were asked to provide an execution plan for each of their goals which they are planning to present.

I would like to take this time to share with you some of my goals and objectives for the ARBA.

Increase communication between the Association, its members and all Red Brangus enthusiasts.

Increase the involvement and interaction of members in Association activities, such as committees and ARBA events.

Increase the visibility and demand of ARBA cattle in the commercial cattle market place.

Work with interested breeders to establish more bull development programs around the country collecting carcass and performance data on Red Brangus sired progeny.

Increase the available supply of quality Red Brangus females and bulls.

Continue to build the junior association and to increase the scholarships awarded on an annual basis.

There are many challenges ahead for our Association in attempting to reach these and other goals set by the board. One example that is very simple and easy to achieve is increasing communication between the Association and its members. We are going to use the internet more for electronic newsletters which can be sent out regularly with updated information on the Association and the cattle industry. In today’s time, print ads and hard copy documentation are fading away; we have to make some adjustments in order for our Association to keep up with the times.

In order to see change it will take a combination of new voices, voices of the experienced breeder, new ideas, lessons from the experienced and involvement from the entire membership to propel the breed and the Association forward to establish new ways to advance our breed. I would like to invite each of you as Red Brangus breeders and enthusiasts to become in engaged in the ARBA. We, as Red Brangus breeders, all know that we have a great product in our cattle; we need to find ways to work together to achieve the goals set forth for the Association and our own goals within our herds to secure the stability of our investments. We have to face the facts: we are a small organization and a small breed in comparison to other breeds and Associations. In order for the ARBA to grow and be successful we all have to work together and help each other market Red Brangus. The Association has endured 55 years of challenging times and now as the current membership it is our responsibility to find ways to increase the popularity of ARBA cattle and to increase market visibility for our cattle.

We are establishing committees and if you are interested in serving on a committee I would encourage you to contact the ARBA office or myself. This Association needs everyone’s support and input on how to grow the ARBA and the breed.

Based on my short time of being in office I can assure you that the demand for Red Brangus cattle continues to grow and the outlook for a continuing demand is very promising. We as group will have to work hard to meet this demand by increasing the supply of quality Red Brangus available to the market.

I look forward to serving as president and working with every breeder in achieving their individual goals within their program and working with the board in achieving the goals of the association. Remember, it will take new voices, new ideas and involvement from the membership to implement change. The opportunities for the ARBA cattle are endless.

Regards,
John Fischer
