Presidents Message

Celebrating 60 Years

As my term of the 2016 American Red Brangus Association President nears the end I want to say thank you for allowing me this honor. The Association is celebrating 60 years, we are financially strong and stable, own our own building, and have an outstanding group of cattle and members. I had the pleasure of attending several events this year. In January, the Board of Directors
had a very productive meeting in Bastrop, Texas. In April, I traveled to Gulf Port and Poplarville, Miss. to attend the Sunbelt Red Brangus Organization Field Day. The Sunbelt put together a very educational program and displayed true southern hospitality. While in Mississippi, I had the privilege of touring several herds of outstanding cattle and enjoyed the company of our amazing breeders. In July, I traveled to College Station — Bryan, Texas to attend the national junior show; this is always a highlight for me. The show was extremely well put together. I want to thank Jeanie Engle and the junior committee for all their hard work. The juniors had a great time and displayed an outstanding group of cattle — congratulations to all the juniors. Saturday night I attended the awards banquet and we enjoyed linen tablecloths, napkins and china, fresh flowers and good food — it was a first class event. I saw friends I have not seen in years. These friends are now back with their grandchildren, which says a lot about this breed and Association. I want to thank all the sponsors and auction buyers for supporting our future. A very special thank you to the Foundation for providing scholarships to our deserving juniors. This was a very special show for me because twenty years ago, this year, my son, Michael, won grand champion heifer in College Station — oh, the memories this show brought back. I am so proud to be a member of this Association. We have the greatest group of hard working, dedicated members and the BEST cattle in the cattle industry. Thank you for your beautiful friendships and giving me unforgettable memories.
